Besan (Gram Flour) for Glowing Skin: Know More

Besan, chickpea flour, or gram flour is used for creating delicious treats that put the yummy in your tummy. This multitasking ingredient has numerous beauty benefits as well. It has alkalizing properties that maintain the skin's pH level and is used in almost all face masks, scrubs, and pastes. In fact, this magical powder has been in use since time immemorial for treating pimples and preventing wrinkles. In combination with a few other ingredients, besan can be used to help with multiple common skin problems. Here are some ways you can use besan:
Tan removal
Besan is excellent for treating tanned skin. All you need is two teaspoons of besan, a pinch of turmeric, a tablespoon of yoghurt and few drops of lime juice. Make a paste and apply it on the tanned areas. Once it dries, wash off with lukewarm water.
Lighten skin
Besan can be used to lighten darker areas of the elbows, knees, etc. Mix four teaspoons of besan with one teaspoon of raw milk and a few drops of lime juice. Apply this paste to the dark areas and wait till it dries before washing it off.
Tighten Pores
For this, a simple paste of besan and a liquid like rose water or cucumber juice is enough. Apply this mix to your face and neck. Wait till it dries before washing off.
Balance oily skin
Besan controls oil secretion by absorbing excess oil and sebum produced by the skin. Mix two teaspoons of besan with a few drops of rose water. Apply this pack on the neck and face. Leave on till it dries and then wash it off. For an even more relaxing feeling, add some Multani mitti (fullers earth) to the mix before applying.
Helpful for dry skin
Besan can also be used to moisturise dry skin, making it supple and radiant. Just add malai (milk cream) and honey to a few teaspoons of besan. Mix to form a paste and apply this paste on your face and neck. Wait till it dries before washing off.
Acne treatment
Besan helps to prevent pimples and acne scars. Mix two teaspoons of besan with a pinch of sandalwood powder and turmeric powder. Add a teaspoon of milk and blend to form a paste. Apply evenly to the face and neck and wait till it dries before washing off.
Reduce facial hair
Forget the painful hair-removal methods. Just mix two teaspoons of besan with half a teaspoon each of turmeric powder and fenugreek powder. Using few drops of water, make a paste. Apply this paste on your face and leave on till it dries. Repeated use of this paste slows down hair growth.
Exfoliates skin
The natural exfoliating property of besan gets rid of dead skin and promotes new cell production. Combine besan with milk and rice powder. Spread this paste onto your skin and massage in circular motion. Leave on till it dries before washing.
