Daily consumption of raw basil leaves purifies the blood and prevents the appearance of acne or pimples. In cases of acne prone skin, a face pack made of basil leaves rose water, sandalwood powder and lemon juice can help in reducing the outburst of pimples.
Treats skin infections:
They are a good remedy for treating skin infections. Boil basil leaves in mustard oil till the oil turns dark. Strain this oil and apply to the affected skin. This reduces skin infection and promotes healing.
Relieves itching:
Rubbing few basil leaves on the itchy skin gives instant relief. Itching can also be treated by applying a mixture of basil leaf juice and lemon juice.
Skin tightening:
To tighten the skin, you can make a toner by boiling basil leaves in water for 5 minutes and then adding few drops of rose water along with 2-3 drops of lemon juice. This solution can be applied to the face as a skin toner.
Useful for Burns and wounds:
Basil can be used for treating burns and wounds. For this purpose, first, mix the basil leaves juice to coconut oil and then boil it for few minutes. Cool this mixture and apply on the burnt or wounded skin.
For glowing skin:
Keep some basil leaves in the sun to dry out. Powder it and store in an air-tight container. Now add this powdered basil leaves to some fuller's earth (Multani mitti). Add some plain water or rose water, make a paste and apply it all over the face. Let it dry for 10-15 minutes and then wash it. This remedy gives a glow to your skin.

Freshly crushed basil leaves can be mixed with few drops of lemon juice and applied to the skin. It helps in lightening the skin tone.
